Madison native, Daniel “DJ” McKnight, was drafted in the 12th round by the Toronto Blue Jays on June 10. McKnight is a Tallahassee Community College outfielder and graduated from Madison County High School in 2013. He is the son of Priscilla Thompkins and Daniel Joseph McKnight, Sr., of Madison. “Playing sports at MCHS taught me responsibility, humbling me and helping me become the person I am now,” said McKnight, looking back on his time spent in Madison.
“I am excited to begin this journey and work towards playing in the major leagues. I'm just taking it one day at a time and working on becoming a better person and a better player.” McKnight will begin playing in the Blue Jays' minor leagues immediately and it is apparent he will do great things. “I want to thank everybody who has helped me during this process,” said McKnight. “My parents, siblings, coaches and friends have inspired me and helped me to get where I am now.”
