If there's been a close friend of North Florida College (NFC) during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's undoubtably been Madison/Jefferson County Department of Health Administrator Kim Allbritton. She was named the 2020 NFC Friend to the College during the 2019-2020 NFC Virtual Honors Convocation on Thursday, April 23.
President John Grosskopf calls Allbritton a wonderful ally to NFC who has proven herself by being an energetic partner in college efforts to protect students, faculty and staff during the on-going crisis. “From the very beginning of this COVID-19 crisis, Ms. Allbritton has offered her guidance and support as the college responded to this new threat to health and safety of our students and employees,” said President Grosskopf.
Allbritton has over 20 years of leadership experience in the areas of long-term care, education and public health, according to NFC. Serving as the bi-county health administrator since 2017, Allbritton retains a bachelors degree in marketing, with a concentration on management, from Florida State University, as well as a masters degree in business administration, with an emphasis in health care management, from Saint Leo University.
Prior to her current tenure as administrator, Allbritton served as the interim administrator from July of 2012 to January of 2016. In addition to this, Allbritton serves on the board of directors for the Big Bend Health Care Coalition, the Jefferson and Madison County Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating boards and the Third Circuit Child Abuse Death Review Committee. Allbritton also serves on the Tobacco Education and Use Prevention Advisory Council by the Surgeon General.
“It is an honor to be recognized by my alma mater,” said Allbritton. “As the health officer for Madison County, I have an obligation to protect the health and safety of our residents and visitors. The pandemic of COVID-19 is a perfect example of how public health works every day to prevent the spread of infectious disease. To be recognized for your service to the community is one of the highest honors one can achieve. I love what I do and the people I get to work with.”
