Douglas Eugene Dixon, 74, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021. He was born on July 13, 1946, in Lee, Fla., to Leroy Dixon and Sadie Dixon.
After graduating high school, Doug joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served in the Vietnam War. Doug was a skilled farmer and a jack of all trades. He was gifted with the ability to engineer, design and build everything from farm equipment to buildings. He was a generous man that loved working the land and sharing the bounty of his efforts. Doug was a witty front porch conversationalist to his many friends and neighbors. A character that was larger than life, he will be missed.
He is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Hilda) Dixon of Madison; three sisters: Ann Buckhalt of Melbourne, Carolyn Woodard of Tallahassee and Margaret (Ray) Wofford of Roswell, Ga.; former wife, Lee Dixon of Lee; two daughters: Jodi (Parks) Baker of Lee, and Rebecca Dixon of Houston, Texas; son, Jeremy (Alanna) Dixon of Key Largo, Fla.; and five grandchildren: Shelbi, Hannah, Connor, Ryland and Braelyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Dixon and Sadie Dixon; and his siblings: Vera Rudd, David Dixon, John Dixon and Irving Dixon.
Graveside services will be held at the Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021.
