Two vehicles wrecked after a driver failed to remain in his designated lane on U.S. 90 on Friday, May 15 at 4:56 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Marlon Dewayne Gee, 39, of Madison was traveling west on U.S. 90 in his 2003 Honda Accord. Sarah B. Chambers, 51, of Cairo, Ga. was traveling east on U.S. 90 in her 2002 Dodge Ram. Gee traveled across the centerline and into the east lane of travel. Chambers attempted to avoid collision with Gee and drove onto the south shoulder. Gee’s front struck the left rear of Chambers’ vehicle forcing her off the roadway and into the wood line.
As a result, Gee traveled off the roadway onto the south shoulder and into the wood line causing his vehicle front to collide with a tree. Gee came to a final rest facing southeast and Chambers came to a final rest facing south. Both vehicles came to a final rest on the south shoulder of U.S. 90. Gee was transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital. His three children were passengers in the vehicle but received no injuries. Chambers received no injuries. Gee was charged with failure to use designated lane. According to the report, Gee appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was given a Blood Alcohol Content test. The results were undetermined as of press time on Thursday, May 21.
