A fire during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 13, resulted in the total loss of a car workshop on State Road 6, in Madison County. According to Madison County Fire Rescue (MCFR) Fire Chief Allen Clayton, a call came into the communications center at 4:46 a.m. Regarding the fire. By the time fire units arrived on the scene, the building was completely engulfed and mostly burned. Units from both MCFR and the Lee Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire. The firefighters battled the blaze until 6 a.m.
The workshop was deemed to be a total loss. The State Fire Marshall is investigating the event.
