The loss of control of a semi-truck and an overcorrection lead to a three-car pile up on State Road (SR) 53 South at Winquepin St., in Madison County.

Daniel Yocum, the driver of the semi-truck, overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle, resulting in spilled logs onto the highway. The semi-truck came to a final rest, facing east. Unfortunately, the front end of Ann M. Borthwick's Hyundai Veloster was damaged.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Daniel Yocum, 40, of Bell, Fl., was traveling northbound on SR 53 South on Thursday, Jan. 18, at approximately 6 a.m., when he lost control of his 2006 Mack semi-truck and trailer. Yocum's vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder of SR 53 and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel back onto the roadway. Yocum then overcorrected again, traveling back onto the right shoulder of the road and overturned, coming to a stop, facing east. The logs that Yocum was carrying spilled onto the roadway.
Keiona S. Demps, 28, of Madison, was traveling southbound on SR 53 and did not see the logs on the roadway. The front left of Demps' 2001 Ford Explorer collided with the spilled logs. Demps' vehicle came to final rest on the right shoulder of SR 53, facing south. Ann M. Borthwick, 42, of Live Oak, also failed to see the logs and the front of her Hyundai Veloster collided with the logs, coming to a final rest facing west, in the northbound lane.
