Eddie was the loving son of Ola Thompson Young and Eddie John Johnson, Sr. Also known as "Hutt", Eddie challenged himself academically. He attended the local public schools before he relocated to Tallahassee to become a student at Amos P. Godby High School. There, he was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and JROTC. He graduated in 1994 with high honors. Eddie later completed coursework towards his Associate of Arts degree at North Florida Community College and certification in culinary arts from Lively Technical School.
Eddie had a passion for developing his skills as a technician. He was not a big talker, but rather a deep thinker. His ultimate ambition was to one day become a mechanical engineer. Testing his own ability, he built an engine overnight. He was also deeply interested in culinary arts; his specialties were desserts – specifically, cheesecake and brownies. He also created his own special barbeque sauce.
Eddie had a brief enlistment period in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Private 2nd class.
Eddie had a relationship with the Lord. He was a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and was in training to become a deacon but was not ordained because his health failed.
Forever in the hearts of his loved ones to cherish his memory are his parents, Ola Thompson Young and Eddie John (Deahtra) Johnson, Sr.; step-father, Vincent Young, Sr.; siblings: Rodderick Johnson, Sr., Antonio Johnson, Sr., D'John Johnson, Vincent Young, Jr., Antwan Young, Gregory Lewis, Latonya (Gary) McIntosh and Angela (Isaac) Haynes; devoted cousin, Annie Ree Williams; devoted niece, Lisa Young; nephew, raised as a son, Eddrick Williams; devoted nephew, Bobby (Iman) Williams; special friends: Darlene (Thomas) Wright Jones, Chaun Franklin and Edward (Sheila) Thompkins; godson, Joey Joseph, Jr.; and many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
Final care and compassionate services are being provided to the Johnson family, with love, care and uncompromising dignity, by the Hall-Moore Funeral Directors at Tillman Funeral Home of Madison.
