Edna Loraine Day McCormick added her beautiful voice to the Heavenly Choir in the early hours of Monday, Aug. 10, 2020. She was surrounded by her family and best friend, Charlotte Hammond. Edna was born in Globe, Arizona on Feb. 16, 1947. She lived in Florida, Tennessee, California and settled back in Florida to care for her mother. She loved the people of Pinetta and that love was returned.
Edna was predeceased by her father, Dean Donald Day; her mother, Mildred Reaves Day Crafton; and her infant daughter. She is survived by her Son, Brian Todd Conner (Kim); her grandchildren: Dakota, Ashley and Gavin; her great-granddaughter, Darla; her Sisters: Doris Day (David) and Dale Day Lilley (Tom); and Brother, Clyde Day (Ruth). She left behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Edna was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pinetta. Although her preference was to remain in the background, she was willing to step forward wherever needed. She served as director of music, Sunday school teacher and in the food bank, among other activities. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the church and the community of Pinetta for supporting Edna in good times and in bad.
Madison County residents and beyond, including those in nursing homes and prisons, were blessed with Edna's gift to impart joy with her voice.
Edna was always extending her hand to the downtrodden, including the many hungry and hurt furry friends.
A celebration of Edna's life will take place at the First Baptist Church of Pinetta on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020. A lunch at the Pinetta Community Center will begin at 1 p.m. to be followed by her memorial in the Sanctuary beginning at 2:30 p.m. All family and friends are invited. COVID-19 precautions are in place.
In lieu of flowers, Edna preferred donation to Pearlman Cancer Center, Suwannee Valley Humane Society or Lighthouse Children's home.
