Elder Eugene Hayes, Jr., 77, of Valdosta passed on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Shiloh M.B. Church, in Greenville, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Viewing and visitation were held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, at Shiloh.
Born in Sanford, Fla., Mr. Hayes held several positions in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He served as Elder of the National Service Organization, Community Services and Sabbath School. He was a member of the Valdosta Choral Guild and the Civil Air Patrol. Elder Hayes was an avid golfer and had been in retail sales for many years.
Left to cherish precious memories are his faithful and loving wife, Ethelene "Lene" Hayes; sons: Eugene (Dawn) Hayes Jr. II, Eugene Stefan Hayes and Christopher (Karen) Jackson; daughters, Ester "Lynette" (Calvin) and Edwina (Michael) Timpson; special granddaughter, Shanyia Ghnett; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Rueben) Hamilton and Annie (Bubba) Cain; brothers-in-law, Walter ( Willie Mae) Wilkins and Joseph Wilkins; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. His son, Eugene "Geno" Hayes, preceded him in death.
