Not very often do you meet a nine-year-old who can successfully carry a tune, let alone write a song. Emery Ratliff is an exception to this rule and has already written and performed her first song at three different churches.
"Pieces just kept coming to me and I was throwing them together into verses and a chorus," said Emery.
Emery, the daughter of Jimbo Ratliff and gospel singer/songwriter Jessica Ratliff, both of Madison, has been performing gospel songs since she was just three-years-old. Her young voice can even be found on two of her mom's albums. After performing her song for three churches, she doesn't plan to stop there.
One of the reasons she chooses to write and perform gospel songs, specifically, is because she likes the way it sounds, but that is not her most important reason.
"I sing for Jesus and for other people to be saved and come to know Him. Emery said I hope I can be a witness for other people."
As for the future, Emery plans to continue sharing her faith through writing and performing gospel songs.
