Every year, American Legion Auxiliaries around the state of Florida send student representatives from each post to attend Girls State. Delegates spend a week in Tallahassee, participating in mock sessions and learning about Florida's judicial, legislative and executive branches. Auxiliary posts choose driven, competitive students in academic good standing to participate in the once in a lifetime opportunity. The American Legion Auxiliary of Greenville has chosen Emma Witmer as the 2015 Girls State delegate. Emma is the daughter of Buddy Witmer, of Monticello, and Georgia Reams, of Greenville. She attends Aucilla Christian Academy and will be a senior when the 2015-16 school year begins. Witmer is a member of ACA's Beta Club, FCA, Living Waters and is the Vice President of Student Council. She plays for Aucilla's Varsity softball team who recently won the FHSAA 2A National Championship; the first-ever championship in ACA history. After graduation, Emma plans to attend the University of Florida; her major is undecided. “I give everything I do 100 percent,” said Witmer. “But no matter what, I strive to honor God in all things.” It is certain Witmer will make a great addition to the 2015 Girls State session.
