Eugene “Gene” Edward Mickel, age 56, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Madison County Memorial Hospital due to a short term illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7 at Beggs Funeral Home, with burial at Concord Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, April 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.
Gene was born on April 13, 1960 to Edward and Ann Mickel in Tallahassee, Fl. but moved to Lovett around the age of 10, where he resided until his passing. He was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Greenville, Fl. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Department of Transportation for 28 years for Madison County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased in death by his father, Edward Mickel.
He is survived by his loving family, which includes: his wife of 24 years, Ann Mickel, of Greenville, Fl.; his mother, Ann Mickel Brooks of Greenville, Fl.; daughters, Kristen Tyer (Wade) of Lakeland, Fl. and Kristen Hendry of Orange Park, Fl.; one son: Thomas Brown Jr. of Lovett, Fl.; eight grandchildren: Wade II, Gatlin, Sierra, and Whyatt of Lakeland, Fl.; Ian, Hailey, and Lauryn of Orange Park, Fl.; Eli of Lovett, Fl.; and two sisters, Cheryl Mickel of Lovett, Fl. and Darlene Race of Crawfordville, Fl.
