Are you a high school senior interested in pursuing a career in agriculture? Farm Credit of Northwest Florida is offering six scholarships to high school seniors within its designated area. Each scholarship is worth $1,500. Farm Credit of Northwest Florida is a member-owned financial cooperative system out of Marianna, Fl. Serving 18 counties in the Northwest region of Florida, Farm Credit offers competitive credit to meet the financial need of local farmers, agribusiness, and rural landowners and homeowners.
The scholarship will be given to two students, out of each region, who choose to pursue a career in Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, or Veterinary Medicine. The regions eligible to apply are the Eastern Region: Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla counties; Central Region: Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties; and the Western Region: Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties.
In addition to the acceptable academic aptitude, vocational promise, personal attributes, and leadership qualities, applicants must be a high school senior planning on attending college and in good academic standing. An applicant must also provide an official copy of their high school transcript; a resume of work history, activities, honors, and volunteer efforts. An essay must be completed on how the applicant plans to use their major in his or her chosen career path. The applicant must turn in a signed letter of recommendation as well.
The scholarship is open to private, public and home-schooled students. If you are selected to receive the scholarship, the funds will be disbursed to the winners' College or University upon proof of enrollment for the 2018 fall semester. Family of employees and directors of Farm Credit of Northwest Florida are not eligible to apply.
