A fashion show was held at the April 8 meeting for 55 Plus Club featuring clothes from the Madison United Methodist Cooperative Ministries Thrift Shop. May Irby, Chairwoman of the UMCM Board emceed the program. There were 14 categories that were modeled and 13 models. Cookie Mitman pulled double duty and modeled an outfit for a dinner date and a costume for Halloween. Austin Mauldin decked himself out in camouflage for the hunter category. Cheryl Richarte wore comfortable yet fashionable clothes with a hat fit for the Kentucky Derby and a suitcase for the travel category. Chuck Fritz modeled for the rodeo cowboy category and wore boots, a western style button shirt and a cowboy hat. Mandy Mauldin modeled a summer fun outfit with a cute tank top and shorts. Sunny Rollins modeled overalls, a plaid shirt and a wide brimmed hat for the lazy days category. A night robe, sleeping pants and fuzzy slippers completed Margaret Throgmorton’s sweet dreams outfit. For men’s casual, Charles Johnson wore jeans and a nice shirt. For Sunday best, Edna Johnson wore a black top and floral skirt. Tom Graham modeled a suit. Debbie Pitman wore a matching pink jacket, top and bottom for the book lady category and she completed her outfit with a book. Tag and Lulu Graham modeled athletic wear for the wide world of sports category. Lindsey Lawson wore a blue formal gown for the formal wear category. Brandy Graham worked in the background and made sure everyone was dressed and ready to strut their stuff. The Madison United Methodist Cooperative Ministries Thrift Shop is located at 799 SW Pinckney Street in Madison. The hours of operation are: Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. On the second Tuesday of every month they close at noon for the Manager and volunteers to attend 55 Plus Club. The 55 Plus Club is open to all Madison County residents who are 55 years old and older. All faiths and races are welcome, and no reservations are necessary. There are no fees of any kind, just come and enjoy a good lunch, fellowship and a fun program. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. with the program following. The 55 Plus Club meets the second Wednesday every month, from September through May at the United Methodist Center located on Highway 145 about five miles north of Madison.
