For Brett Lameier, owner of LB Feed and Country Meats, opening a feed store seemed like a logical decision seven years ago. He had been a livestock inspector for the State of Florida for many years, so he already had personal relationships with many of the farmers and ranchers in the area.
A native of Kissimee, Fla., Lameier has lived in Madison County for 17 years and does not regret in the least making Greenville his home. "I wouldn't live anywhere else," said Lameier.
In addition to his work with the state, Lameier was involved in rodeo competition from the time he was 12 years old. While still a youngster, Lameier won numerous competitions on the high school and college levels. After an 11-year hiatus from competitive steer wrestling, Lameier returned to competition at the age of 45. Lameier made it to the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) finals in 2014, 2015 and 2016 before leaving competitive rodeo.
Lameier's rodeo and livestock experience is easily seen at LB Feed and Country Meats. He has on supply saddles and other horse tack. LB also carries medicines and nutritional supplements for livestock, in addition to a wide variety of feeds for farm animals and pets alike.
It's not just the four-legged members of the family that LB feeds. Customers can find grocery items like milk and eggs, plus farm-fresh vegetables like acre peas and more. LB also carries meats that can't easily be found anywhere else, like rib bacon, crawfish and alligator. Smoked sausage and various cuts of steak can also be found at LB. "We like to feed the whole family, two-legged and four-legged," says Lameier.
Lameier and his wife Christy live in Greenville. LB Feed and Country Meats can be found at 118 SE Bennett St., in Madison. Their phone number is (850) 973-3030.
