On Tuesday, June 21, Fellowship Baptist Church held a food drive led by Christy Adams and other volunteers. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the church was open to any and all citizens to receive several bags of fresh vegetables as well as canned goods. Adams was thrilled with the turnout as well as the food options. “We have more fresh food than ever,” she said with a smile. “But the big goal is not even about the food, it's about making sure people know they are appreciated.” Adams went on to note that the “food is just an added bonus.” The drives held by Adams and her volunteers are meant to help connect more with the community, which is something that she takes pride in. “I try to make conversation with every person that stops by here,” and that is exactly what she did. Every car that came up to the tents at Fellowship Baptist Church was greeted with a smile by the entire staff, who also helped load the vehicles. The group tries to host these drives once a month and will always be open to new visitors.
