The Junior Auxiliary of Madison County (JA) has introduced a new literacy project to the children of Madison County, the "Finders Keepers Book Project." With the current pandemic, JA had to think out of the box to safely serve children. Knowing that literacy is always a need and now that so many children are limited in where they can go, especially away from school buildings, having books in the home is even more important.
JA members pre-bagged books for children in grades K-5 and are taking turns hiding the books in frequented areas of the community. They then post updates to the book drops and picture clues about the location of the books on the Junior Auxiliary of Madison Florida's Facebook page.
So far, books have been dropped in Greenville, Lee, Pinetta and downtown Madison. The organization plans to continue with the book drops at least through December. Community members can follow project updates and clues regarding when and where the books are dropped. JA encourages everyone to visit their Facebook page, be on the lookout and be sure to share pictures if a book is found.
