From Sunday, June 25 to Thursday, June 29, First Baptist Church of Madison held its Vacation Bible School, “Twists and Turns.” The motto for the event was “Following Jesus Changes Everything,” and included Pre-K through fifth-graders. There was also a second VBS class that ran during the same time, which included middle schoolers. The verse for the week was Psalm 25:4, “Make your ways known to me, Lord teach me your paths.” The schedule for this VBS included a meal to begin, followed by a worship rally, games, crafts, music, missions and Bible lessons in varying order depending on the class. Each night ended with a snack before dismissal.
Each night was a continuation of the story of Peter. Sunday night’s story about Peter following Jesus taught kids that “Jesus is Holy.” The lessons continued the rest of the week: Monday, “Jesus is Trustworthy,” with the Bible story being about Peter walking on the water to Jesus; Tuesday, “Jesus is Forgiving,” with the Bible story being about Peter denying Jesus and being restored and Wednesday, “Jesus is Worth Following,” with a Bible story about Peter speaking boldly about Jesus. Wednesday night was also water night and the kids enjoyed a slip-n-slide during game time. The final night was family night and parents were able to watch their kids sing and dance on the stage to the VBS songs they had learned throughout the week. After the performance, everyone assembled in the Fellowship Hall for a spaghetti dinner.
Overall, this year's VBS for First Baptist Church of Madison was very successful. Giving God all the glory and praise, 11 children and students indicated they were ready for Jesus to be their Savior.
