From Monday, July 26, to Friday, July 30, the Madison First United Methodist Church, located at 348 SW Rutledge St., held this year's Vacation Bible School (VBS). Their theme was “Knights of the North Castle,” where the children, ranging in age from five to fifth grade, wore the Armor of God and went through various training activities to be deemed knights qualified for the quest. The event was led by Ruth Ann Latner, along with several other members of the church.
Each day started with worship in song, followed by various stations where the kids learned more about the stories they were studying. The first day included Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego and the fiery furnace. They made crafts, learned about science, sang more songs and had Bible study. There were also recreational activities led by the group leaders for the kids to enjoy, concluding with a waterslide on the last day.
