During the last weeks of school, Carol Gibson visited all five elementary schools in Madison County.
During her visit, Gibson discussed with the students the first American flag, present flag and how pledging to the flag is a promise to be a good American citizen. Afterwards, every student was given a small American flag to take home.
She has handed out hundreds of flags to children all across the county, throughout various elementary schools, all while teaching them the importance of the American flag.
Gibson thanks the American Legion Post 224 in Cherry Lake, for placing the flags around the Courthouse and Four Freedoms Park, in Madison. The proceeds from this project provided Gibson with the funds to obtain small flags to take into different elementary schools and teach the students the importance of the American flag.
Gibson is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a school board member for District Two.
