The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch is holding their summer camp on Aug. 2-7 at Caruth Camp, located at 14770 SE Highway 19 in Inglis, Fl., which is about 20 minutes north of Crystal River, in Levy County. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 10-15. Applications are now available and the deadline to apply is April 10. The camp is free of charge. The goals of the camp are to provide campers with opportunities to try new activities, learn new skills and make new friends; allow campers to interact with law enforcement officers in a positive manner and learn that law officers are your friends; and teach campers valuable teamwork skills through group living, group decision making and group building activities. Camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, canoeing, skits, singing, archery, nature hikes, games, swimming, challenge courses, campfire activities, high rope courses and environmental education. Demonstrations may include K-9 units, SWAT teams and helicopters.
