If you want me to be head over heels for you, I think you should know that I’m very attracted to strength, good judgment and humility.
I love strong candidates, who are sharp and decisive, even formidable, if required. But if you were also smart enough to seek counsel (especially from God) on a regular basis, I wouldn’t be able to stop talking about you to all my friends.
My heart longs for a candidate who is levelheaded, especially in the midst of a crises and who can keep what’s important important. My respect for you will grow each time you choose to do the right thing for the right reasons. And my heart will swell with pride as you prove to be a man of your word.
You will sweep me off my feet if you’re willing to work with others in a bipartisan effort. But you’ll break my heart every time you denigrate someone, even when they disagree with you.
I dream about a candidate who will keep me, and those I love, safe. I want you to “check the locks” so intruders can’t get in to cause us harm.
You don’t have to spoil me by spending money on a bunch of stuff I don’t really need. I’d rather have someone who thinks more about our financial future.
Finally, others will be sure to envy me if I’ve found a candidate who will actually listen when I tell him about the issues that matter to me – and who won’t forget how important I am to him. After all, I could have easily gone with someone else.
Since I’m happily married to Bert, in lieu of giving you my heart, I will give you my vote. Above all, I’ll commit to praying for you to “be filled with the knowledge of [God’s] will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” (Colossians 1:9)
Will you be my candidate?

(I wrote this lighthearted article targeting male candidates who are running for office; however, I would want the same traits for female candidates.)
