It began when a little girl in the second grade started playing basketball with the boys at Pinetta Elementary School. Young Brittany Hasty made her mind up then that she wanted to play college basketball. That same little girl went on to play both basketball and softball throughout her school years, all the while, honing her skills and working toward perfection.
That dream took a huge step forward in the spring of 2020 when Hasty was offered a scholarship and signed to play basketball and softball for the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University, in Vienna, W.Va. The opening of Hasty's basketball season has been delayed slightly until January, due to COVID and scheduling issues. These delays have done little to dampen Hasty's spirits. "I absolutely love it up at Ohio Valley," said Hasty. "I've enjoyed practicing with my teammates and growing closer to them. School is off to a great start."
When basketball action does resume in Vienna, Hasty hopes to help the Fighting Scots improve on last season's record of 4-21.
She is the daughter of Jeff and Peggy Hasty and is studying sports medicine.
