For the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirls, the 2019-20 season will go down as the most successful season since the program won a state championship in 2016. This season, the Cowgirls amassed a 22-7 record with an undefeated 8-0 district record. Along with that record and a berth in the state's Class 1A Final Four, four Cowgirls and their coach have been recognized by the Tallahassee Democrat for the All-Big Bend team.
Lasage Ferguson was named the Big Bend Defensive Player of the Year and was included on the first team All-Big Bend team. Ferguson averaged 13.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.6 steals per game this season.
Dakayla Hopkins was named to the third team All-Big Bend team. She averaged 8.1 points per game along with 9.2 rebounds per game. Jamya Plummer also received third team All-Big Bend honors. Plummer averaged 8.3 points and 2.2 steals per game. Another Cowgirl named to the third team All-Big Bend team was Brittany Hasty. Hasty was good for 7.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Cowgirls Head Coach Christopher Neal was named the Big Bend Coach of the Year. Coach Neal led the Cowgirls to both District and Region Championships in his fourth year at the helm of the Cowgirls' program.
