Four players from the Madison County High School (MCHS) tennis team played in the district semi-final tournament on Monday, April 10 at Maclay High School, in Tallahassee. Bailey Browning, Jayce Scott, Jim Flournoy, III, and Cassie Davis all played in the singles competition with players from schools across the district.
Browning faced the number one seed from Aucilla Christian Academy. Bailey split the first two sets, but lost in the tie-breaking third set. Jayce Scott faced competition from Maclay High School and was defeated in straight sets. Flournoy also faced competition from Maclay High School and was defeated in a tie breaking third set after splitting his first two sets. Davis faced the number one seed from John Paul II Catholic High School and was defeated in straight sets.
Despite the losses, Coach Bridgette Gudz was pleased with the effort put forth by her MCHS players. “[They] all played extremely well,” said Gudz.
