Frank Galbraith, III, 74, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 10, surrounded by his wife and four children, after a brief battle with cancer.
Frank served his country in the Army, during Vietnam. Upon his return, he attended North Florida Junior College, the University of West Florida and Valdosta State College, ultimately earning a Master’s Degree in education. Mr. Galbraith, as he was called over the years, had a heart for children and served in various roles within the education system, for over 35 years, with the majority of time being spent as principal of Madison Primary School. He was also known as “Birdshot” to many, as he enjoyed spending time hunting in the woods and fishing with family and friends in his free time. However, his most prized title was “Pop” and his most precious times were with Rhonda, the children and grandchildren. He spent countless hours attending ballgames and practices, watching dance recitals and just hanging out at home with everyone, including his beloved pets.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Galbraith, Jr. and Jacqueline Thurman Kirkland; his great-grandfather, Leonard Hoyt Thurman; his uncle, Leonard Thurman; and his brother, David “Booger” Galbraith.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rhonda Galbraith; four children and their spouses, who he loved as his own: Lenny and Teresa Galbraith, Allen and Emily Galbraith, Butch and Channah Galbraith and Jackie and Josh Akers; and 10 grandchildren: Tessa, Gracie, Samuel, Olivia, Cross, Trey, Rhett, Wyatt, Kerrington and Libbie.
