The National Volunteer Fire Council is offering a host of free classes that could go beyond application in the volunteer fire service. These online classes include topics such as leadership, behavioral health, stress management and more. While, for example, stress management techniques are geared towards and discussed through the lens of a volunteer firefighter, effective techniques are universal. Hallmarks of good leadership in the fire service are similar to those in business: anyone can identify a good leader, no matter their field, because these techniques are also universal. So firefighter, small business owner, parent, or more, all citizens can benefit from this free training. Citizens may further benefit by better understanding the role and responsibilities of their own local volunteer emergency responders. Visit http://www.nvfc.org/news-and-events/news/4135-nvfc-health-and-safety-courses-now-free-for-a-limited-time to see a full list of available online classes. Each one is available online at no charge. They can be done in the comfort of one’s home or public library.
