Let me start by saying that I have never been married. I've been what you would probably call “a confirmed bachelor” my entire life. I'll not try to speculate as to whether that is good for me, or better for any potential mates I may have had over the years. It's just the way life has worked out, so far. More often than not, my singularity is not something to which I pay much attention. There are many times I quite enjoy the fact that it's “just me and the dog.”
As I said, my singularity does not really occupy a significant part of my thoughts, except this time of year. Valentine's Day seems to remind me that there's supposed to be something missing. I see it in those Match.com and eHarmony (and for me, those “Our Time”) commercials on TV. I appreciate their wanting to make my life more fulfilled by adding another person into the mix, but somehow I can't help but believe that they are much more interested in my $19.95 per month than they are in my dating or eventual matrimonial status. Maybe a little of that is my natural cynicism shining through.
Last year, I came up with a great solution to deal with Valentine's Day. Since I knew my time would not be otherwise occupied, I decided I would take advantage of those poor folks who did have certain obligations for Valentine’s Day. I worked for a florist delivering flowers for the day. I actually made pretty good money that day. This year, I won't have that same opportunity. Perhaps I can offer my services and write sappy greetings for guys who can't seem to find the right words. You can see for yourself how successful it has been for me; and it will only cost you $19.95 a month.
