All this morning, I have had the David Bowie song “Changes” going through my mind. There’s a very good reason for that. I have some big changes coming my way over the next few weeks. There will be big changes, but some things will remain the same. The biggest thing that will remain the same is that I will still be here at your friendly neighborhood newspaper. Hopefully, that news will be met with many more cheers of delight than with groans of disappointment.
The big change will be away from the newspaper. I will be taking a plane to Washington State this weekend and driving back with a lady friend who has decided she wants to live in our North Florida area. There will be much bigger changes ahead for her than there are for me, I readily admit that. She has been to our area before and has been pleased with the friendly people we have. I’m sure everyone will make her feel very welcomed. I still have not been able to nail down a permanent place to live as of yet. Finding a good rental place here has proved to be quite a challenge. Fortunately, a temporary solution to that has been procured. It’s a bit more expensive than I had hoped, but it is much closer to work and that will be a welcome change. This temporary solution may be acceptable for a month or two. In the meantime, I will continue my search. That is turning into a bit of a “lesson in faith.”
So, for the next week, I will be on quite an adventure, I am sure. Although it is a long drive, there’s something very enjoyable about taking a cross-country trip on the road. There’s no telling what you might see along the way, and the journey can often provide great material, over here on the “Sunny Side.”
