This morning I had an experience that is not uncommon these days. As I was getting back into my car after retrieving my ham, egg and cheese sandwich on toasted wheat bread and large white chocolate mocha with an extra French vanilla creamer, I noticed the vehicle next to me on my left was cranked up. This same young lady had been inside the eating establishment at the same time as me, and I noticed she seemed to be rather focused on something other than just retrieving her breakfast. Before I had a chance to close my door, this young lady proceeded to back out of her parking place. Fortunately, I was able to close my door before the side of her vehicle made contact with my vehicle. Even more fortunate, both my feet were already safely inside my vehicle.
Other people being in a rush has never really bothered me. That is probably much to the aggravation of the other people who happen to be in a rush. Sometimes I wonder what they are in such a hurry to do. I often want to ask, “Why are you in such a hurry? You’re probably just going to mess something up when you get there. You’re just going to mess it up five seconds sooner.” Many times I have had someone zoom past me on the road, just to have me gently pull up next to them at a traffic light. They really saved a lot of time, I suppose.
I have been told that I drive like “an old man.” My response is usually, “That’s how you get to be an old man.” What others say about me or even their visual gestures have little effect on me. I just smile and enjoy life, here on the “Sunny Side.”
