George Frank Rykard, Jr., age 84, died Sunday, Jan. 31 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.
He was born in Aucilla on November 7, 1931 to the late George Frank and Beulah Bishop Rykard. He lived most of his life in Madison and was a member of Rocky Springs United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime board member of Ebenezer Methodist Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Madison High School. He served as a radio operator in the US Air Force in 1952. He was a certified contractor for over 60 years. He built many homes and businesses throughout Madison County and beyond. Frank was happiest when working and spending time with his family. He loved people and spent a lot of time helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Overby Rykard of Madison; three sons: Jeff (Terri) Rykard of Madison, Mike (Regina) Rykard of Tallahassee and Steve (Betsy) Rykard of Madison; one sister, Ann Rykard Yates of Woodland, Al.; eight grandchildren: Taylor, Dillon, Loren, Lydia, Lindsey, Nicolas, Eric and Hank and three beautiful nieces.
