George York Mills, Jr. (90) passed away at home with family on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, in Winter Garden, Fla. He was born in 1930, in Monticello, Fla., to George York Mills and Mabel Faulkner Mills.
George graduated from Staunton Military Academy High School and then attended The Citadel Military College before graduating from The University of Florida. Following graduation, George served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant in the Korean Conflict.
After the war George married Elizabeth Mays Mills and they settled in Monticello before moving to Tallahassee where George developed a love of Florida State University sports.
George is survived by three children: Katherine Cornelia Mills, of New York, N.Y.; George York Mills, III, of Port Orange, Fla.; and Parkhill Scott Mills, of Winter Garden, Fla; and four grandchildren: Alexandra Elizabeth Mills, George York Mills, IV, Austin Parkhill Mills and Trevor (Tea) Scott Mills.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at Roseland Cemetery, East Madison St., in Monticello. Arrangements by Beggs Funeral Home, 485 E. Dogwood St., Monticello.
