Mr. Gerald Fred Moses, 76, of Lee, passed away on Aug. 19, 2021, at his home. Gerald was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Panama City, Florida to Harry Lee Moses and Nella Corbin Moses. He attended Willingham High School in Macon, GA, during which time he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War, serving one tour as a member of the “Seabees”. After completing his enlistment with the Navy, Gerald became a Trooper with the Georgia State Patrol where he served for 35 years before retiring as a lieutenant. He was a member of the Brunswick, GA Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shriners. Gerald was a Ham Radio Operator who in his spare time, enjoyed golfing, fishing, and visiting with friends and family at “The Barn”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lee Moses and Nella Corbin Holman; two grandsons, Chandler Lancaster and Harrison Nitschke; and a brother, Tommy Moses.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Dover Moses; daughter, Brenda Lancaster, and husband Derek, of Lee; two brothers, Everett Moses, and wife Bunny, of Beaver Dam, VA, and Virgil Holman, and wife Marie, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Glenda Cotton, and husband Doug, of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren: Kali, Christian and Carolann Lancaster; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Burns Funeral Home, of Madison, with Rev. Doug Cotton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
