On Saturday, July 29, citizens of Greenville welcomed some new improvements to the community. Town officials and employees held a ribbon cuttings for the new community center located next to Town Hall and the new splash pad at Haffye Hays Park. Other new improvements on display were the new floating dock on the pond at the park and a new basketball court located at the western end of the park. Still to come will be an outdoor exercise space with various pieces of exercise equipment. The exercise equipment will be provided through a grant from the Florida Department of Health. According to Lee Jones, Greenville CEO/Town Manager, the equipment should be in place within the next few weeks.
Those who came out to enjoy the day were also treated to hamburgers and hot dogs right off the grill, along with drinks and chips.
“Our desire in all this is to hopefully attract more people to Greenville,” said Jones. “Making Greenville more attractive, appearance-wise, and improving the amenities for the citizens will go a long way toward accomplishing that.”
