Jodi Baker, the current Facility Administrator for the DaVita dialysis clinics in Madison and Perry, never imagined herself as a nurse, but now she can’t imagine herself doing anything else.
In 2008, Baker was working as a self-employed drafter, designing house plans for building purposes. However, when the economy declined, her job took a plunge because no one was building at the time. Because she was a single parent, she decided she needed to look for a more stable career, so she turned to nursing. Baker decided to go back to school and graduated from North Florida Community College in 2011 with her Associates Degree in Nursing.
"I may not have chosen nursing, but it chose me," Baker said. "I truly believe things happen for a reason and God puts you on the path where you truly belong."
After graduating, Baker worked at several different jobs before accepting her current role as Facility Administrator. Some roles she has filled are Nurse Manager for Skilled Nursing and Rehab Facility, School Health Coordinator for the Department of Health and floor nurse for DaVita. In addition to these roles, in 2019, Baker graduated from North Florida College with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Though Baker still enjoys designing houses and using it as a creative outlet, she describes nursing as "my passion, my motivation and my niche." Baker is married to Parks Baker and the two currently reside in Lee. She also has two daughters: Shelby and Hannah Cooper.
