Shannon Sullivan, a lifelong resident of Greenville and 1991 graduate of Aucilla Christian Academy, earned her AA degree at North Florida College in 1993, and went on to pursue a degree in public relations at Valdosta State University. However, she always knew that her heart was in healthcare. In 2011, she decided to go back to school to get her Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Before returning to North Florida College, Sullivan was a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Davita Dialysis in Madison and Perry for nearly a year, while also working as a medical transcriptionist. It was then that she rediscovered her love for healthcare. After earning her Associate's Degree in Nursing in 2013, she returned to Davita, this time as a Registered Nurse.
"I knew that I wanted to be an RN since I was 10 years old," said Sullivan. "I didn't go back to school until my kids were a little older to pursue my dream."
Within a year of returning to Davita, Sullivan was promoted to Clinical Coordinator. One year later, she was promoted again to Facility Administrator for the Madison and Perry Davita Dialysis clinics. Sullivan decided to take this job, and ended up staying in this position for four years.
"I love being the Facility Administrator, as well as an RN, because it gives me the freedom to have direct contact with my patients, as well as build relationships with my team," said Sullivan.
In 2019, Sullivan was asked to move to a much larger clinic in Tallahassee, Fla., where she is the current Facility Administrator. This clinic was in need of a seasoned administrator after being without one for over a year. She decided to accept this challenge to become the Facility Administrator at Tallahassee South.
In just a few weeks, Sullivan will be taking on a new role with Davita as the Centralized Anemia Manager, where she will still be working within her current region. However, this position will be remote from her home.
"I am excited about this new position because I will still be able to work with the same company and be involved with the care of the patients, but I will also be able to spend more time with my family," said Sullivan.
Sullivan has been married to J'son Sullivan for 23 years and they have two children: Ramsey (21) and Will (17).
