The remnants of Hurricane Helene – which struck the Big Bend region as a major storm during the late night hours of Thursday, Sept. 26, – were still wreaking havoc across the U.S. Southeast on Sunday and into Monday, leaving a reported 600-mile swath of death and destruction in its aftermath.
The National Hurricane Center reports that Helene had an enormous wind field, with hurricane-force winds extending outward 60 miles from its center,
