Hermon Wayne Williams, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, in Tallhassee, Fla., surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Wayne was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Madison, Fla. to Ralph Hunt Williams and Verna Lee Wooten Williams.
Wayne honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era. Wayne was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church. Wayne worked as a longtime truck driver for the Johnson Family, retiring in August of 2021. He also owned and operated Interstate Truck and Tire Service for many years. After his retirement, he enjoyed working with Henderson, Harris and Agner Farms. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, scalloping and going on boat rides. To the family he was the best Paw Paw in the whole world, he loved his grandchildren dearly and was actively involved in their lives, taking them for rides, going to games, and whatever they had going on, he would be there.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Verna Lee Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 32 years, Phyllis Williams; his children: Scott and Tammy Williams, Bryan and Lauren Williams, Nikole Williams Boatwright, Christie Seaborn, Stephanie and John Henningsen and Jay and Naomi Seaborn; his brothers; Eugene and Eudene Williams; 12 grandchildren: Tony, Garrett, Jacob, Brandon, Olivia, Savanna, Noah, Grayson, Xin, Hunt, Summer and Liam; two great-grandchildren; Jackson and Nathaniel; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Wayne’s life was held on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove Methodist Church with Bro. Steve McHargue officiating. The family received friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday before the service. After the service, everyone was invited to come and fellowship with the family in the church fellowship hall. All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
