Grab your fishing poles, bait boxes and nets!
On Saturday, May 7, Hickory Grove 4-H will be hosting an inaugural fishing tournament from 7 a.m. to noon at Cherry Lake Public Beach.
Fishing may begin at 7 a.m.; check-in is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the pavilion at the Cherry Lake Public Beach.
Those ages five through 18 may participate; Cloverbud Anglers are ages five to seven, Junior Anglers are eight to 10, Intermediate Anglers are ages 11-13 and Senior Anglers are ages 14-18.
Those who participate will be able to fish anywhere, whether off of a Cherry Lake resident's dock, a boat or off of the bank. Fish must be caught using a rod/reel/line and hook using live bait or artificial lures at Cherry Lake.
All anglers are required to follow all federal, state and local laws.
Prizes will be awarded to the participant with the most fish caught and the participant with the largest caught per age group, along with the top overall participant with the most fish caught and the largest fish caught.
Weigh-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the pavilion and awards will be given at noon.
The entry fee is $10 per angler. A t-shirt will be given to the first 75 participants. Entry forms and fees must be submitted by Monday, May 2.
