The folks at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church celebrated the 104th birthday of long-time member of the church, Mrs. Eloise Stewart. The special dinner and celebration was held on the 4th Sunday night, which is normally the monthly family night service. Mrs. Stewart's birthday fell on Saturday, May 30th, but the family night in May is when the church always celebrates her extraordinary life and birthday. Both of Stewart's daughters, Bennie Rose and Frances also attended, along with about fifty or more guests and church members. Sandra Ulm led the program to honor and recognize the church's oldest living member. The main part of the celebration was singing several of Mrs. Stewarts favorite church hymns. Also, several of the church members shared great memories of Mrs. Stewart. Mrs. Stewart also commented that she fondly remembered the first formal school that she attended and it was at the Hickory Grove School. In the old days, the church was also a school for the county. Hickory Grove is so thankful and honored to call Mrs. Eloise Stewart one of its dearest church members. Everyone in the church really loves her and her entire family.
