Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Day have partnered with the Madison County Foundation for Excellence in Education and Take Stock in Children program to provide a four-year scholarship in memory of former School Superintendent Griffin Bishop. This scholarship was awarded to Houston Wagner, who graduated with honors from Madison County High School this past June. Wagner was a member of the Beta Club while at the high school and he completed a Career and Technical Program to become a CNA. He also took dual enrollment classes at North Florida Community College while in high school and plans to continue at NFCC in the fall to complete the course work for his AA degree. He plans to become an EMT, which will be a bridge to earning his BA as a Registered Nurse at a university.
His long-term goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner. “I am so thankful for the opportunity that Mr. and Mrs. Day have given me to go to college and pursue my dream for a medical degree,” said Wagner. He also had a special message for MCFEE in encouraging them to keep up the good work. Lloyd Day said that he encouraged Houston to pursue his dreams and to stay in touch with him. Mrs. Edie Day, who was a long time Board Member of MCFEE and served as secretary for 12 years, passed away last October. The Madison County Foundation for Excellence in Education administers the TSIC Scholarship Program which is made possible by generous donors like Lloyd and Edie Day.
