Mr. Hubert "Junior" Carter, 89, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020. Junior was born on Nov. 3, 1930 in Lee, Fla. to Mr. Fred Carter and Mrs. Pearl Purvis Carter.
Junior honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict. After his service to his country, he worked for Tri-County Electric as a lineman. He moved to Tampa, Fla., where he worked for the city of Tampa until moving back to Madison in 1979, and began working for the Madison County Road Department where he worked for 35 years. He then moved to Merritt Island, Fla. in 2018 to live with his sister and caregiver, Leila Summey.
Hubert was preceded in death by two wives: Jeanette and Marie; his parents: Fred and Pearl Carter; his brothers: Leonard, David, Charles, Ernest and Steve; sisters: Mary, Myrtle and Anna; and brother in-law, Charles Summey.
He is survived by his sisters: Betty (Jimmie) Wood and Leila Summey; step-daughter, Phyllis (Gary) Bailey; and grandchildren: Savannah and Courtney Bailey.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Lee First Baptist Church where Bro. Greg Ragans officiated. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Lee Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020 at Lee First Baptist Church.
All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lee First Baptist Church Harvest Fund.
