Mrs. Inez Luke Crosby, age 86 of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at her home in Willacoochee, Ga., following an extended illness.
A native of Irwin County, Mrs. Crosby was born on July 23, l930 and was the daughter of John Wesley and Nealie Hinton Luke. She worked for many years as a machine operator at Dorminey Manufacturing in Willacoochee, Ga. along with helping her late husband Johnny Crosby on the family farm. She also was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and working in her flowerbeds. She was a member of the Willacoochee Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny E. Crosby; two sisters, Doris Luke Merritt and Dorothy Lee (Dot) Luke Callaway; and two brothers, Cleo Luke and John Wesley Luke. She is survived by two daughters, Doris Edwina Crosby Vickers (Donald) of Willacoochee, Ga. and Jacqulyne Earlene Crosby Roland (Michael) of Greenville, Fl.; four sisters: Versa Mae Luke Law of Fitzgerald, Ga., Jewel Moore of Ocala, Fl., Voncile “Bonnie” Luke Cavender (Jim) of Graniteville, S.C., and Brenda Luke Jewell (Sonny) of Ty Ty, Ga.; six brothers: Lucious Luke of Willacoochee, Ga., James Luke (Lenora) of Winter Haven, Fl., Curtis Luke (Dean) of Willacoochee, Ga., Ottis Luke (Barbara) of Willacoochee, Ga., Elmer Luke (Sally) of Willacoochee, Ga., and Butler Luke (Linda) of Wray, Ga.; brother-in-law, George Merritt of Center Hill, Fl.; sister-in-law, Dale Luke of Willacoochee, Ga.; six grandchildren: Rodney Vickers, Kevin Vickers (Gina), Jamie Vickers (Melissa), Carrie Adams (Trampas), Haley Roland Kauffman (Forrest), and Chase Roland; 10 great grandchildren: Phaedra Vickers Merritt (Logan), Kendra Vickers, Kate Vickers, Ely Adams, Sara Vickers, Darcy Adams, Isabella Vickers, Dawson Vickers, Jamilee Vickers, and Aiden Kauffman; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crosby were held on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. at Willacoochee Church of God with Rev. Charles Blair and Rev. Kevin Vickers officiating. Special music included “I’ll Fly Away” and “Amazing Grace” presented by the attending congregation with Lavonda Pittman accompanying on the keyboards and “Look for Me” rendered by soloist Rev. Charles Blair. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Lavonda Pittman on the keyboards. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were: Kevin Vickers, Jamie Vickers, Chase Roland, Logan Merritt, and Forrest Kauffman. Honorary pallbearers were Willacoochee Senior Center Citizens and Staff.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
