Ireland Wood received the Outstanding Student Award in Drawing from North Florida Community College. Her instructor, Lisa Thompson, nominated her for the award because she noticed Wood’s passion and talent for art at the young age of 16 years, and how every assignment was done well. “I was honored to be chosen to receive the Outstanding Student award,” said Wood. She is the first James Madison Preparatory High School dual enroll student to receive an Outstanding Student Award from NFCC. “I felt proud for my school, James Madison Preparatory High School and that I could be there representing them,” said Wood. Wood stated that her favorite part of drawing was “the escape you get from your daily problems” and that it was a stress reliever.
