Irene M. Foxx, 87, of Land O' Lakes, Fla. passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021. She was born in Madison County, and resided in Land O' Lakes since 1964. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, H. J. Foxx, Jr. She is survived by her son, Steve Foxx, and wife, Lydia, of Land O' Lakes; daughter, Melody Townsend, and husband, Billy, of Plant City, Fla.; grandchildren: Matthew Foxx and wife Jenn, of Riverview, Fla.; Maegan Foxx, of Land O' Lakes; Karina Townsend and Nikolai Townsend, of Plant City; great granddaughter, Avery Rae Foxx of Riverview; sisters: Marie O’Barr, of South Pasadena, Fla.; Richard Mathis of Lee; and Bonnie Webb, and husband, Joe of Lee; brother in-law, Virgil Foxx, of Dowling Park, Fla.; various nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
She was a godly loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister to her family.
Irene was a sophisticated and charming southern lady. She loved to dress to the nines with her high heels and jewelry. Everything was always perfection, and she knew how to make an entrance.
Later in life, she became an accomplished award-winning artist.
She loved her flowers and gardening and was a member of the Land O’ Lakes Garden Club.
She led a life of service to others and never missed an opportunity to give to others.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes. She attended Idlewild Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of Seekers Outreach Bible Fellowship class.
Irene served as Vice President of Pan American Bank and ended her 30-year banking career with Bank of America. As a people person, retirement did not fit her. Irene joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, in Tampa, where she spent 24 years and made many friends.
She loved to travel, especially cruising and spending time at the beach and in the mountains, with her sisters and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Melech Hospice House, 11125 N. 52nd Street, in Temple Terrace, Fla. in memory of Irene M. Foxx.
Local visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the service from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on Thursday Aug. 5, at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O' Lakes.
Services will take place on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, in Lee, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
