Mr. Ishmael Little, 96, of Greenville, formerly of Sparks, Ga., who was better known to some of his favorite people as Daddy or Papa, went to meet Jesus on Dec. 8 at Madison Health and Rehab in Madison. Ishmael was born on July 5, 1919 in Newton, Ga., to his late parents, Warren Carlton Little & Minta Eola Tucker Little. He was a handsome man (something he enjoyed letting everyone know); he was kind, funny and most importantly a man who loved and served God. His charm and good looks won the heart of his beautiful wife of 65 years, the late Mrs. Ruby Page Little. Ishmael lived a fulfilling life in which he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked at Adel Grocery Company for 38 years as a wholesale shipping clerk before retiring and was a devoted member of Adel Church of God where he served as clerk for 60 years and led the choir for about 45 years. His greatest accomplishments were his family, which he loved very much. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Burdette and Sammy Bass of Greenville, and his son, Jerry Little of Mississippi; grandchildren: Steve (Jackie) Byrd, Fred Byrd Jr., Beth (Steve) Harrison, Brittany Nels, Amanda (Billy) Densmore; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brudenell Little, and four sisters: Irene Little, Effie Tyson, Lillia Collier, and Gertrude Rochelle. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, Ga. The funeral service will take place Friday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Adel Church of God with Rev. Charles Blair and Rev. Sammy Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Church Cemetery in Cook County. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com. Boone Funeral Home of Adel, Ga., is serving the Little family.
