Mr. Hugh "Jack" Mcleod, 90, died Saturday, June 27 surrounded by his family in his home in Madison, Fla.
He was born and raised in Coffee County, Ala. and was the eldest son of the late R V and Willie Pearl McLeod. Having spent most of his life in agriculture, the last 43 years were spent in Madison, which he considered home.
Jack was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Madison for 43 years, where he served many years as a deacon, taught Sunday School for children and worked with children of all ages in the Awana Program as well as mentoring local youth throughout Madison County.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Mrs. Betty Jean McLeod; son, Kenneth (Margie) McLeod of Madison; grandson, Jack (Leslie) McLeod of Madison; granddaughter, Becky (Kyle) Launius of St. Petersburg; two great grandchildren, Sean and Summer McLeod of Madison; one brother, Max (Nell) McLeod of Whittier, NC; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, R V and Willie Pearl McLeod, and one brother, Gerald McLeod.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Madison at 11:00 a.m., visitation for friends and family was held one hour prior to the service. Interment was followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Awana Program at First Baptist Church of Madison, P.O. Box 307, Madison, Fla. 32341.
