Madison County Storytelling and the Florida Storytelling Association are pleased to announce that for the third year in a row a student from Madison County is a winner in the Virginia Rivers Youthful Voices Scholarship competition.
Jade Plummer, a 13 year old Madison Creative Arts Academy eighth grade student, will represent Madison County at the statewide event. The daughter of David and Brandy Plummer, Jade and one of her parents will be spending two free nights at the historic Lakeside Hotel in Mount Dora, Fl, while attending the 33rd Annual Florida Storytelling Festival March 30-April 2, all courtesy of the Florida Storytelling Association.
While there, Jade will receive individual coaching and mentoring with a master storyteller; she will attend specialized workshops that will enhance her storytelling skills; and she will get to know and work with not only the four other Florida scholarship recipients, but also many other young tellers from all over the state. She will participate in the Youthful Voices Concert on Saturday evening, and she and a parent will attend the Saturday night banquet.
Wanda Violet, the director of Madison County Storytelling, put together the contest application for Jade, and John Ludwig produced the video that was submitted to the Florida Storytelling Association. The hard work on their parts and Jade’s talented efforts resulted in this being the third year that a youth storyteller from rural North Florida, Madison County, was chosen for this statewide honor.
The Florida Storytelling Association and Madison County Storytelling congratulate Jade Plummer for this wonderful honor and accomplishment.
