During the 33rd annual Florida Storytelling Festival, held in Mount Dora, Fl., March 30 through April 2, Madison County’s Jadyn (Jade) Plummer told her story “Terror in the Troughs” to hundreds of listeners. Additionally, her wonderful story was streamed on the internet for all to see and hear. Jade was a winner of the Virginia Rivers Youthful Voices Scholarship which is a key component of the Florida Storytelling Association (FSA) Youthful Voices program. This scholarship allowed Plummer to participate in the Festival as well as attend workshops and receive individual coaching and mentoring from a master storyteller.
This is the third year in a row that a young storyteller from Madison County Florida Storytelling’s Tellabration! TM, held each year at Betty O’Toole’s Herb Farm the Saturday before Thanksgiving, has won this scholarship. Previous winners were Abby Ratliff and Liberty Blair.
Jade is the daughter of David and Brandy Plummer. She is in the eighth grade at Madison Creative Arts Academy.
