James (Jim) C. Gibson, Jr., 52, of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 23, at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. James was born in Siegen, Germany on August 14, 1962, and grew up in Tallahassee. He was an adoring husband, a devoted brother, a caring son and a mischievous “funcle” (affectionately nicknamed by his nephew Phoenix). He loved to sing and play his guitar and found many occasions to entertain family and friends with his music and impromptu lyrics. Everyone enjoyed his unique sense of humor. As an entrepreneur, he had a knack for finding things antique and unique. He loved the outdoors and welcomed any chance to grill the “catch-of-the-day.” He was an avid fisherman. James is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Greene Gibson; parents: James C. Gibson, Sr. and Barbel U. Gibson; sister, Christine B. Gibson; nephew, Phoenix J. Gibson and wife LeAnn and their sons: Benjamin and Jeremiah; sister-in-law, Brenda and brother-in-law, William Smith, of Lenoir, N.C. and their son, Jody Smith, of Hickory, N.C.; sister-in-law, Lynn and brother-in-law, Tracy Bradshaw and their daughters: Christy and husband Scott Hayes, also of Lenoir, N.C. and Jessica Bradshaw, of Hickory, N.C. James was laid to rest at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison. A Memorial and Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in Tallahassee at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee.
